Unreal Engine 3 Integration

Beast is fully integrated into Unreal Engine 3.

Global Illumination

Beast is based on the same production-proven Global Illumination core as the Turtle renderer. There are a multitude of ways to configure the Global Illumination for quality and performance, but also for artistic control. The material system in Unreal Engine 3 is very closely matched so that all the details in a level really do affect the Global Illumination.

HDR Environments

Use high dynamic range images to light your levels. Manage the light probes as any other Unreal Engine 3 assets, by storing and sharing them in packages.HDR Environments

Emissive Materials

Emissive objects automatically affect the Global Illumination, so besides making neon signs give off really cool lighting, you can also use emissive objects for designing the in-game lighting.Emissive

Soft Shadows

Beast adds new options to all the light sources to create realistic ray-traced soft shadows from spot lights, point lights and directional lights. It’s also possible to light with emissive surfaces when using Global Illumination.SoftShadows

Alpha Shadows

Masked materials or transparent materials cast correct shadows when baked with Beast. Shadows from wire fences will now look as you expect, and will look even better with ray-traced soft shadows.MaskedShadows
